The Citizen Science website was developed as the outreach and education portion of the GCOOS Integrated Water Quality Network. It is structured to accommodate data and information acquired by volunteer monitoring networks throughout the Gulf of Mexico region. Two main goals of the Citizen Science website are to:

  • Reduce the data management burden to volunteer monitoring programs; and
  • Facilitate the region-wide sharing of valuable water quality observations

Collaborators

Each organization collects information based on their objectives. Partners include:

  • Galveston Bay Foundation (TX)
  • Nature’s Academy (FL)
  • Department of Oceanography, Texas A&M University

Common parameters collected are Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, pH and Salinity.
